Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Rosemary Nalden

 

We are delighted to announce that Buskaid’s Founder and Director, Rosemary Nalden was awarded Honorary Membership of The Royal Philharmonic Society (RPS) on 14th May 2013.

Rosemary Nalden was one of the speakers for TedxObserver at Sadler's Wells Theatre, London, 2012. She was joined on stage by members of the Buskaid Ensemble for a short performance.

Forthcoming Concerts and Events 2014

 

The Buskaid Soweto String Ensemble’s UK tour 2014

 

This tour will take place between 10th and 17th July and features four concerts at the following prestigious venues:

 

10th July – Pittville Pump Room, Cheltenham as part of the Cheltenham Music Festival
11th July – St George’s, Bristol
13th July – The Great Hall, Boughton House, Northamptonshire
16th July – Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, London

 

The Ensemble will present a number of different classical programmes, to include works by Rameau, JS Bach, Boccherini, Brahms, Bloch and Karl Jenkins, as well as Buskaid’s own township Kwela and Gospel arrangements. The tour culminates in a performance at the Queen Elizabeth Hall where the Buskaid Soweto String Ensemble will be joined by guest conductor Karl Jenkins CBE for a performance of his Soweto Suite for Strings, which he has dedicated to Buskaid.

Please note there is a screening of the BBC Documentary ‘Soweto Strings’ at 6pm prior to the main concert. Tickets for this event can be purchased separately.
